About

ART ROOTS

07-31-19RebeccaLazenby092_REV.jpg

Rebecca Lazenby is a practicing architect and interior designer by day, based in University Park, Texas, a residential enclave bordering downtown Dallas. Raised by an art teacher and an industrial design major, her upbringing instilled the love of creating at an early age. In her free time, Rebecca is constantly seeking new artistic outlets to explore, whether it is sketching, print making, painting, photography, or mixed media, and the artistic wheels are always turning on how to use her architectural background to bring a unique perspective to her art. Her years in the design industry and the desire to create hand-crafted works with full design freedom without parameters, have driven her to produce self-fulfilling works rooted in architecture, but branching into graphic and abstract form.

You can often find Rebecca sketching out ideas on anything that holds ink. This happens to be a sketch series done while on an airplane to the back of a receipt.

Profession

Rebecca Lazenby graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelors of Architecture and has worked in the profession for the past 20 + years. She currently has an architecture and interiors practice in University Park, Texas, that focuses on residential design. Click here to visit the website of Rebecca Lazenby Architect.

Travel or Bust

Few things fuel her passion for design, like travel. From Rebecca’s experiences abroad studying classicism during her college years, to her time trotting the globe with her adventurous family, architecture, urban cityscapes, culture, landscape, and wildlife are inspirations for her work, both in her design practice and her art.

Nature

Rebecca’s fascination with color, texture, pattern, form and order is the reason she is an architect by day, but much of that inspiration is not just from the built environment, but found directly in nature. Incorporating inspirations from nature’s design bridges her professional interests with her artistic pursuits.
